Samoset's Tips, Sips & Quips for the Month

Tip of the Month:

January can be the coldest month and snowstorms are surely to come along with the cold air.  Take preventative measures and prepare for power outages.  Have extra batteries, bottled water, lanterns and flashlights, fire wood and matches, blankets, peanut butter and jelly and even tuna fish on hand.  Last but not least, always check your toilet paper supply !

Sip of the Month:

                                 Rumchata Hot Cocoa:

• 2  and 1/2 cups of milk

         1/4 cup of sugar

         2 tbsp. cocoa powder

          1 tsp. vanilla

          6 oz. chocolate chips

          1/2 cup Rumchata

          1/3 cup warm caramel

Whipped cream and cinnamon stick for garnish

• Pour milk into saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.  Whisk in sugar and cocoa and stir until smooth.  Stir in chocolate chips and vanilla until chips are melted.  Lastly, stir in rumchata and turn off heat.

• Take a small dish and pour the warm caramel on it and take a glass and dip it into the caramel to coat the rim.  Add the hot chocolate mixture and top with whipped cream and add a cinnamon stick!

Quip of the Month:

January days can be cold and dark, think Spring and turn a room into a place that makes you feel like your having a picnic in the park!
